Visit of High School Students to the Department of Production Engineering

April 3, 2026

On Thursday, April 2, 2026, the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was visited by high school seniors from the Third and Tenth Belgrade Gymnasiums, the Polytechnic School in Belgrade, and the Technical School in Smederevo. Lazar Matijašević, a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Production Engineering, presented the various fields of study in the Department to the students in an interesting and engaging way. He explained the knowledge they could acquire upon completing the Production Engineering module and demonstrated the development of a modern robotic hand—from concept to realization—which he is developing as part of his doctoral research.

The second part of the lecture focused on the presentation of the ongoing scientific research project, MCSecurity. This project is being implemented by a team from the Department of Production Engineering in collaboration with Duke University from the USA, with the full support of the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia. Đorđe Jevtić, a Research Assistant and member of the project team, presented the research goals, valuable scientific research equipment, and the project’s results to date. The students were curious about what working on a scientific project looks like, so Lazar and Đorđe took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of such projects and explain how science is connected to the educational system.
